Pupil Premium

The pupil premium was introduced in April 2011.  It was allocated to children from low income families who were known to be eligible for free school meals and children who have been looked after continuously for more than 6 months.  The local authority passed the funding to schools to decide how best to meet the needs of their pupils.  Schools are free to spend Pupil Premium as they see fit.  However they are responsible for how they use this funding to support pupils. Achievement of pupils receiving Pupil Premium will show the progress they may have made and be measured accordingly.

Pupil Premium is not intended to meet all of the costs for supporting disadvantaged pupils at Meadowbank.  We employ additional staff to support eligible pupils in small groups using a range of intervention strategies implemented by trained staff.  In addition we employ a Pastoral Support Manager and others during extended curriculum hours e.g. breakfast club, dinnertime and after school to identify the needs of children.
If you would like to know more about this funding please contact school to arrange a meeting.
