Atherton Children’s Centre opened in March 2007.  It is an extension to Meadowbank Primary School and Nursery Education Centre.

The nursery offers high quality early years provision delivered by an experienced team of early years practitioners.  The centre also provides an inclusive environment where all children, regardless of their abilities, can work and play together developing sensitivity and concern for others.

Atherton Children’s Centre provides many services through working in collaboration with the local schools and community groups; including a regular health drop-in for parents and children, a range of family learning opportunities, parenting programmes and a Children’s Centre Champions group.  There is a great range of child / family support services on offer, both within the centre and within the home environment, as well as access to employment / training information, advice & guidance.

The Centre gives parents / carers more choice and greater flexibility within their chosen childcare provision due to the integrated nursery and childcare facilities.

The Children’s Centre coordinates services for the local community and links provision to other local schools, nurseries and community groups in the Atherton area.

Staff in the centre include:

Clare O’Malley – Children’s Centre Coordinator

Nicola Lawrence – Link Worker

Cheryl Calland – Link Worker

Vacant – Information Worker/Receptionist

Elaine Frost / Susan Kennedy - Receptionists/Information Assistants
