Year 6

Welcome to Year 6! My name is Mrs Prescott and I am your child’s class teacher. We are extremely lucky to be supported by Mrs Heaton and Mrs Jones as our class teaching assistants.

What we are learning this term?

Summer Term 1 - Year 6

How can parents help at home?

Please support your children with any homework they may have.  Year 6 is a very important year.  Below are some websites that will help us to support your children with their learning. English and Maths revision for KS2 SATs – Maths and English games on a number of different areas.

Reading Books / Planners

Reading at home is very important and we would encourage the children to read as often as possible.  This could be their school book or a book of their choice.  Children will receive smilies every time it is recorded in their planner that they have read.

P.E. is on Thursdays, please ensure your child has the appropriate kit for this lesson.  Every Monday the children will be undertaking activities with the School of Military.  They can come to school in old clothes on a Monday morning (jogging pants, trainers, jumpers) and bring their uniform to change into.

Daily Mile – Every day the children will take part in the Daily Mile Walk.  Please ensure that they have appropriate outdoor clothing (waterproof coats, gloves, hats etc.).

Homework will be sent home throughout the year. This may include spellings, times tables or extension work relating to class topics. Please encourage your child to complete their homework independently and return to school by the date requested.

Playtime/dinnertime information.

Children will have a morning break from 10.30-10.45 where they will be offered free milk and toast.  During playtime and dinner time there are a range of activities the children can join in with.

Hinning House

Our Outward Bounds trip to Hinning House in the Lake District is one of the most popular weeks of the year for our Year 6.
